Follow Friday: Latinx Food Bloggers

The end of National Hispanic Heritage Month is October 15th. We wanted to showcase a few Hispanic food bloggers that you can check out for more food options! We cover a whole range of countries. They all bring a unique perspective to the table.

Let’s celebrate all these wonderful cultures!

Confieso Que Cocino

Pilar Woloszyn

Pilar’s blog has recipes that combine food from Chile and Ecuador. In her earlier years, she visited Chile for vacations with her grandparents. Most of these recipes are from Ecuador! Pilar currently resides in Guayaquil.

This is a unique food blog! I think most of us have had Ecuadorian food without realizing it. I have noticed a lot of fish and peanuts in their cuisine! It looks delightful. Some of the recipes that I am curious about are Shrimp Encocado, Rompope and Monkey Tail Sweet of Tres Leches, and Peanut Chili! Delicioso!

Chilean Food and Garden

Pilar Hernandez

We showcased Pilar’s cookbook The Chilean Kitchen: 75 Seasonal Recipes for Stews, Breads, Salads, Cocktails, Desserts, and More on our Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month blog post. I am excited to check out her food blog!

The blog is organized very well. There is a column that features a whole array of Chilean foods. In addition, it is divided into sweet and savory recipes. We see Chilean dishes intermingled with other recipes from around the world.

All of Pilar’s dishes look scrumptious!

Isabel Eats

Isabel Eats is a first-generation Mexican-American. She grew up eating authentic Mexican food every day. It wasn’t until Isabel left for college that she felt an appreciation for Mexican cuisine. On her blog, Isabel Eats, you will find a mix of traditional Mexican eats and some with a twist.

I love that she’s listed some popular recipes right off the bat:

  • Carnitas Recipe
  • Easy Chicken Tacos
  • Homemade Corn Tortillas
  • Easy Steak Fajitas
  • Frozen Margarita

My stomach is already grumbling!

Muy Bueno

Yvette Marquez-Sharpnack

Yvette gives us an amazing blog with traditional Mexican recipes. Muy Bueno is an homage to Yvette’s grandmother. These are recipes that have been passed down through generations.

My favorite part about her blog is how she’s organized her recipes. We have the typical categories (breakfast, desserts, lunch, dinner.) But we also have cooking styles like grilling, slow cooking, and instant pot. There is even a section dedicated to holidays! You will find so many recipes for all times of the year.

Featured are her Mexican soups! I am so thrilled to have this in my stockpile during winter and autumn.

Maura Hernández

If you want to experience Mexican cuisine in all its glory – check out The Other Side of the Tortilla. Maura gives us tasty conventional Mexican recipes, and she also provides a list of places to visit and eat while in Mexico.

My biggest draw is the photo of the Chamoy peach rings! They look so good and are easy to make. There are quite a few Aguas Frescas that will come in handy next summer! I hope she updates with more recipes as we progress in the year.

Mi Diario De Cocina

Carolina Rojas

Check out this other Chilean food blogger Mi Diario De Cocina. There is a mix of Chilean recipes and recipes from other places in the world. She does have a cookbook out, which is listed in Spanish and English.

These recipes look tasty! Chilean Ajiaco, Chilean Powdered Pastries, Ground Beef Empanadas all sound delightful for autumn and winter.

Do you know of any other Latinx food bloggers that I may have missed? Share their website in the comments!
