The cookbook author grew up working in her family’s Cuban restaurant in Miami. Now she has her own restaurant, Caja Caliente, but the website and it’s Instagram account (mindbogglingly) don’t say what city or state it’s in. I’m going to guess Florida?

The actor who played loveable grumpy cafe owner Luke Danes on “Gilmore Girls” presents this cookbook of approachable everyday comfort foods. Here’s an excellent cookbook to pick up as we ease into autumn and the cozy season.

Now, she brings us bougie couch snacks, appetizers, “weak-night” dinners, soups and pastas, side dishes, lots of drinks and cocktails, and “desserts you won’t desert.” Love her recipe and chapter titles – so fun!
