There are so many amazing cookbooks being released in March 2021. One of my favorite cookbook subgenres of cookbooks are those by big-name chefs. I love learning the new tricks of the trade from all the professionals. Let’s take a look at what some have to offer!

It’s Not Complicated: Simple Recipes for Every Day

Katie Lee Biegel is an American cookbook author and television food critic who is currently the cohost of the Food Network’s The Kitchen. We can now take some of her personal creations home with the It’s Not Complicated: Simple Recipes for Every Day cookbook!

For the most part, her recipes are very simple and all American classics such as ribs, salads, and potatoes. Truly they require very little ingredients and less than 30 minutes in most cases! She makes cooking very approachable, clean, and simple – which I prefer!

That’s not to say these recipes can’t be made for special houseguests. Even though they are quite easy to cook, they’re still sophisticated classics.

Eat Better, Feel Better: My Recipes for Wellness and Healing, Inside and Out

I’m so glad to see Giada De Laurentiis’s smiling face on the cover of the Eat Better, Feel Better: My Recipes for Wellness and Healing, Inside and Out cookbook. I like seeing this side of Giada: more health oriented and encouraging positive eating. She provides us with a wellness routine that she utilizes herself! Did you know that she is fifty years old?

We obviously have a lot of Italian cuisine trickled throughout this cookbook, but she provides us with healthier versions of what are sometimes very unhealthy recipes. There are over 100 dishes in this cookbook that all sound really tasty.

One of my favorite parts about this cookbook is the 21-day menu outline. There is more than just food options – there are also lifestyle choices. An example is that she tries to use licorice root to help balance hormones and prevent acid reflux. Or digestive-assistive yoga. I’ll have to take a look at this cookbook to better my health!

Tangy Tart Hot and Sweet: A World of Recipes for Every Day

The Tangy Tart Hot and Sweet: A World of Recipes for Every Day is full of flavor packed dishes that I desperately must try. There are recipes from all around the world featured in this cookbook. Things such as lobster bruschetta, veal linguine with white Ragu, and chicken korma, all at our finger tips.

Padma Lakshmi is a huge inspiration, and these recipes are all broken down in a way that’s easily approachable. Many of these are incredibly sophisticated and will impress your guests when you have the opportunity to cook for them! There’s a lovely mix of flavor profiles.

This is a revised edition, which Lakshmi is promoting because her new season of Taste the Nation will likely air in June 2021. If you’ve already enjoyed the first edition, this has some new goodies inside. She is also doing demos on the new season of Top Chef to showcase some of these recipes.

Food Between Friends: A Cookbook

Modern family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his close friend Julie Tanous a recipe ,developer, give us a cookbook we can utilize with our own friends. Food Between Friends: A Cookbook combines flavors from their hometowns. One covers modern California food and the other, Southern and Southwestern cuisine.

This cookbook is fun, with a lot of photos of each dish and the friends just having fun with food. You can tell each dish has a combination of the flavors. There are a lot of seasonings too that really show off the Southwest and Southern flavors, but also incorporate very clean eating as you see in modern California. Here are some of my favorites: Asparagus and Leek galette, sopapillas (these look phenomenal), and green tomato salad.

There are never seen before recipes in this cookbook, plus some classics (like fried chicken!) This would be a great cookbook to use while cooking with your friends!

Simply Julia: 110 Easy Recipes for Healthy Comfort Food

You can learn more details about Simply Julia: 110 Easy Recipes for Healthy Comfort Food on a previous blog post. I am in love with the recipes Julia Turshen provides, because they are unique and still comforting. An example would be her Hasselback carrots and fish cakes – yum!

Her version of “healthy eating” I think reframes “healthy” in a beneficial way. Now we can learn how to not shame ourselves for putting food into our bodies – we need to eat!

The recipes have little tips from Julia throughout that really make each recipe more personable.

Julia Turshen is also an activist who contributed to the LGBTQ and POC communities by creating EATT ( Equity at the Table) as an amazing database for food service professionals.

If you could cook with any celebrity who would it be? It doesn’t have to be a famous chef, though I would love to cook with Gordon Ramsay.
